Orientation

Well, Orientation is in full swing, I've been bowling, helped clean up a park, taken tours, done pub crawls, been to receptions and presentations and certified my laptop. I have met a lot of really cool people and have started to figure out the bus system. I have my class and exam schedule and my assignments. I will also be dropping a pretty penny on books before I head home for a much-needed nap. Classes start Tuesday, I will write another post all about the Socratic method.

Settling into my new apartment

Well, my parents and I made it to Philadelphia! Our flight was a few hours late (big surprise) so we spent the first night on the floor. Ouch. The next day we spent getting supplies and furniture at Target and Ikea. The next few days we spent putting all of my new Ikea furniture together... It rained quite a bit while they were here, so we didn't get to walk around as much as I would have liked, but it did provide a cool environment for furniture assembly.

I did let my parents have a little fun here in Philly. We went to the Franklin Institute (though we didn't see Tut), the Mutter Museum, the Art Museum, the Rodin, the Reading Terminal Market, Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the Penn Law building, compared cheese steaks from the rivals Pat and Geno in South Philly, ate Ethiopian food, mom and I went shopping on South Street while dad went to the US mint.

Driving in Philadelphia was an adventure to be sure, though I left that adventure for mom and dad to enjoy... The rental car was returned in one piece, no collisions to report. Mom and dad left for Bozeman on Thursday afternoon leaving me to put up posters and unpack the boxes that I sent myself.

So far I LOVE Philadelphia--the people are awesome and very friendly. My apartment is great; it was so much fun to pick out furniture and all the trimmings. I will try to get some pictures uploaded soon, though I am not known for being good at that sort of thing! My home Internet connection should be set up on September 1, so I will do another post then and give all the details on orientation. I got my class schedule today, I'm almost a 1L!

Herregud!

Had a mental breakdown last night; I have SO MUCH STUFF!! Where did it all come from? I keep throwing stuff away, packing boxes to mail, packing suitcases, packing boxes of (mostly books) stuff I can't bear to part with but also can't afford to mail myself or store in Philadelphia... Yet, there is always more stuff to be dealt with. I am quickly running out of days and patience. I'd really rather be hanging out with friends in the next two days than packing.

Enough whining, I had an awesome evening with some of my very favorite people in the whole world, Carter, Bjorn, Sissel, and Siri. Also, both Danny AND Sabra made it into the finals of So You Think You Can Dance, so all is well with the world for now.

Here's hoping I get everything done in the next 24 hours so I can have some time to play (hey, a girl can hope!)

Getting started

Well, it looks like I officially have a blog now! Hopefully I will have lots of interesting things to post, and maybe even time to post them. Right now I am just going to keep packing my life into suitcases in an attempt to be ready for Thursday. If anything exciting happens, you'll be the first to know.
